Notes of Beauty was founded to encourage our melanated beauties to embrace their natural hair and nourish their skin with the earth’s best gifts. We believe in honoring the full rhythm of who you are and that you are the artist of your own melody.

My name is Shemika Antonette. Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, I grew up in a world where hair was and has always been an expression of culture, resilience, and beauty. I soon found myself navigating the complex and beautiful journey of embracing my own natural hair during my first pregnancy when I made the decision to go natural. That shift brought me back to the basics of learning this new texture and making my own shea butter blends to help me embrace the process. When my son was born with sensitive skin, I turned to those same whipped butters to soothe and nourish his skin.

Fast forward to today, I am a biomedical engineer, now a mother of two and a lover of all things music. I created this brand to merge my passion for science, soul, and artistry into every jar. Each product is handcrafted with natural oils, herbs, and intentional care not just to soften your skin, but to uplift your spirit.

This is not just about skincare but it’s a celebration of authenticity.
